Not every mare is pretty to look at. Not every mare produces the best looking foals. But not every mare is Armbro Temple. Dark colored, a head only her mother could love, and ears as long as a child’s arm, the mare known simply as Temple has been part of the farm’s fabric since the beginning.

Delivering a total of 9 foals for Diamond Creek and 11 overall, Armbro Temple’s first 8 foals made it to the races and produced the like of Temple Of Doom ($745,917) and Jimmy Shin ($342,777). She also sold 11 yearlings for a $74,000+ average. A solid and quality producer, Temple also deals with a chronic virus that causes eye ulcers, incapacitating her. She remains on a constant diet of eye meds and sports a $100 fly mask/visor which makes her quite noticeable in the field. Whether its due to weather, allergies or some unknown reason, Temple’s eyes respond to the climate of Pennsylvania much better than Kentucky and due to that fact, she is the only member of famed “Golden Girls” to reside in Pa.

Her host duties range from babysitting, tease mare to the stallions and one of Father Patrick’s harem mares. A daily battle to keep her comfortable, happy, and her eyes clear of ulcers, she continues to be a tough and durable mare and as long as she is happy and healthy, she will continue to be a fixture of the farm and in constant eye sight of Father Patrick.
